"The Taiko Meantime instructors were calm and had great control, a great attitude and incredible enthusiasm, that we all came away with!"
- Parent, Surrey Arts Taiko workshop

Dear all

After another unprecedented year, we're again taking bookings for our Taiko Drumming for Schools Programme up to July 2012. This year, we've travelled all over the UK bringing the chance for thousands of children to experience the challenge, power and fun of Taiko drumming.

"The children were thrilled to work with Mark who is so clearly passionate about Taiko drumming. They absorbed his enthusiastic and highly professional approach to the performance discipline, producing a confident and impressive piece after just 90 minutes of focused teaching."
Alison Venn, James Allen's School, Dulwich

In addition to our single days in schools, our longer-term projects have been very popular this year. They challenge the children with discipline and focus, and always culminate with a performance for the school, parents, and sometimes for the general public!

This Spring, Haydon School in Eastcote, one of our regular schools, invited us to work with a group of underachieving pupils in year 9 and 10. The project culminated in a performance to staff and parents at the school's annual International Evening.

"I would like to thank you for giving the Link students an opportunity to play in the Spring Concert. Taiko Drumming is amazing! Mark was brilliant with all of the boys and the skills they learnt during the training sessions will stand them in good stead. It helped them with their concentration, confidence and for some, their co-ordination."
Jane Gurd, Link Manager, Haydon School

We've been invited back for a third year to Blackheath Prep School after the success of the our first two projects which built Taiko into the music and drama curriculum. The 10-week project held in the Spring term for all year 5 and 6 pupils allows the children to feel a real sense of progression in technique, musical understanding, confidence and performance skills.

"Taiko enables every child to achieve an unimagined quality of performance. Taiko appears effortless but involves formidable skills of focus and perseverance which then ignite every other area of the curriculum. After ten sessions, the audience were left open-mouthed at the final performance by the children."
Penny Thompson, Head Teacher, Blackheath Preparatory School, London
